The action was slow and the special effects were crude, but the early classic monster movies paved the way for many of the horror films that we enjoy today. They established enduring legends with excellent black and white camera work. Instead of computerized characters and special effects these films featured terrific performances by actors under layers of make-up. Some of these films may still cause a chill, others may make you laugh out loud, but either way, these are the original monsters that have a big impact on film and art to this day.
This Halloween spotlight is a display of art inspired by the classics; Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, and The Invisible Man.
